Do Masters have normal flesh? The descriptions of their bodies seem a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they’re flesh-and-blood like normal bats, but the creature that came out of the Bishop’s barn (Hearts) and the Thing on the Roof of the Foreign Office (Veils) are described as like holes into space.

I’m willing to bet that Curators/Masters can either shapeshift in some way, or &quotfold&quot themselves down to merely intimidatingly huge instead of the Locomotive-sized monsters they are when flying around. Skies explicitly mentions eyes &quotas big as dustbin lids&quot when describing a Curator (see https://sunlessskies.gamepedia.com/Curated), which would be extremely noticeable for any character that ends up interacting with the Masters. As to whether &quotgolden god-flesh&quot was exaggeration, literal, or indicating that Candles was Shaped/Scienced prior to his butchery is probably ground for a different debate.
