I’m in a certain piece of Fate-locked content in the Foreign Office, have a bit of fate to spend, and I’m curious about changing sides. If one were to betray certain Fate-locked spouses for the sake of switching sides, does this result in gaining the "A bitter parting" quality with said spouse, or can such a betrayal be reversed at a later time?
I don’t know for certain, but since it’s Fate content I expect that you could change your mind later, at the cost of the Fate needed to do so.
Perhaps, but I’m pretty sure that taking on "A Bitter Parting" for a spouse is substantially less than fixable, to the best of my knowledge. I’m wondering if anyone has experience in this area.
There’s a mechanical way to determine this: if the option to betray a side so you can marry a spouse doesn’t mention anything about a Bitter Parting quality in its unlock requirements then it’s unlikely that there is one for the Foreign Office spouses.
I can’t say about the Foreign Office storyline in particular (since I haven’t played it), but as for just marrying/divorcing NPCs, I’ve once asked FBG about this and their reply was:
“It’s currently possible to divorce the Artist and Jewel Thief without getting A Bitter Parting using the Fate-locked options to divorce them. The other NPCs can be divorced without gaining A Bitter Parting.”
