It required a LOT of Waves-intensive Heists; not one, but TWO Salons during the same week in order to amass 23 Waves for my 5th point of Notabilty by Saturday, having climbed up from 3 during the same week, and a Shadowy check with a 35% chance of victory. Yeah, it would only have been 50% if I were fully prepared, but I decided it would be faster to wait for the card multiple times and hope for the best.
I decided to use a Hastily Scrawled Warning Note, raising my true chances to 50% or a little better. To my suprise, I became a Midnighter on my first try - didn't even need the Advantage, although I still considered it well spent.
The RNG smiled warmly upon me today, indeed.

Got enough resources to gamble for the yacht- was expecting to spend ~2000 echoes. i spent about 600, not counting the six favors in high places, and won on the second roll.

Scholar of the Correspondence 20. Can't get any higher without changing destiny or committing to Extraordinary Mind. Managed to get both 19 and 20 from a single mood card, which was nice.

Dear God. After days upon days of grinding, I finally have a reservation at the Royal Beth!
Man, we *really* need a better way of grinding prisoner's honey. Funding it with other resources it NOT fun. I am now 300% done with devils, Louche or not.

Why is it "NOT fun" to fund this with other resources?
Paying 50 Antique Mysteries is cheaper, and you can (relatively) easily get them from Thefts in the Flit and from Trade Secrets.

I've seemed to come across both the "A little omen" and "A dusty bookshop" opportunity cards in the same hand after one draw. With my study of the Correspondence nearing its end and my resulting need for as much Watchful as I can muster, I'd say this counts as a bit of good fortune.

Good luck! I've had the same luck with these Mood cards lately. And so, today:
Where do I go from here?
I think I have all the max Watchful items including an Overgoat, but not a Watchful Destiny.. so this may be the end of my searing road for some time to come.
On the other hand.. I'm at Notability 7 and climbing. If I reach 9, I think I can use an Unsigned Message with Extraordinary Mind to get the increases I need.

Hey, I just did that too! Actual max of SotC for one with a non-Watchful destiny is 20. I see you have an Overgoat, but you'll get another 10 points of Watchful when you make an Uber.

Finally got to 3200 scraps for the first time! Unfortunately, I can't seem to bring myself to spend them on anything. Who knows when one of the high scrap items might suddenly become important. I guess I'll just have to save up even more scrap so I can buy them all at once.
On the Topic of SotC. The basic watchful stuff you can buy from the Bazaar (minus hats because you need a mood) plus having 200 Watchful and an Overgoat (a minimum requirement) will get you as high as 246. From there you need to get an extra 24 points from various sources to get to 270 from which you can reach the SotC cap using a mood. Bonus sources are (noted with their benefit over the things they would have to replace):
- +2 Mirror Polished Shoes (from Patron) or +3 Meticulously Altered Stocking (from Christmas)
- +4 Pot of Violant Ink or Notched Bone Harpoon (from tier 4 watchful profession)
- +10 Ubergoat
- +3 or +5 Destiny
- +1 to +15 Extraordinary Mind specialization notability stat boost
- +1 Newspaper
- +1 Voluminous Library
- +1 Spouse
I actually made it without an Ubergoat but I was using a combination of bonuses from just about every other source on that list. Depending on what things on that list you can/are willing to pick up you may be able to max your SotC without a watchful destiny.

Just pulled the Jack Vance card, grabbed some tales, sold them, dealt a new hand and got the same card again. That was nice. (Also had a visit on the same hand, just to make things extra nice).

My youngest non-POSI alt had some good fortune today. After grinding the last of the Muscaria Brandy for their first four card lodgings, a guest room at the Brass Embassy, they drew the Hell card and A devil's taken a shine to you (the card to become Intimate of Devils the last thing they needed) in the same hand. They got their lodgings and the next card they got meant that they are no longer Intimate of Devils. As I really didn't want them to have all those cards and risk losing their soul I am quite happy about how things worked out.

Today I successfully converted 15 Glimpses of Something Larger to 15 Deals with a Devil, the only thing that stopped me is lack of actions.
