I wonder, why do devs put Lab options into the Opportunity deck, if almost all the cards are discardable and the deck is infinite. I mean, if I want to grind working with my Student, I just do it by discarding all the cards I don't need and pulling new ones. Why not just put it as a permanent option?..

Yes, it does seem a little odd. Doesn't really bother me at all, but it does feel like it isn't quite how it should be.

There are undiscardable cards if your Menaces are too high, or Student Disgruntlement. So, your hand can get clogged if you let it. I think in practice the main effect of having a deck is to let that auto-fire Disgruntlement event occur. Otherwise I agree, the deck-ness is under-utilized.
I feel like there's a way to make the deck impactful, but it's a narrow line away from being frustrating. Having all the cards be un-discardable might be viable, but it's a balance challenge, especially when your lab isn't fully kitted and staffed. Alternatively, an auto-fire card or two to prevent endless card-flipping (Jenny's school has this mechanism). And of course you don't want to encourage a part-empty lab.

Right now, with students, I already have less than a full lab because even with infinite card flips it's frustrating to flip continuously to get the student card. I imagine if cards were undiscardable, a bunch of the extra people you could get in your lab would turn into detriments.

Social invitations of all kinds welcome, especially games of chess and deadly sparring!
Also happy to help with nightmares, send sips of Cider, and plant battle.

Thanks FB for adding the option to the lab to drink darkdrop coffee (assuming you have any). I was going to file feedback to the effect that of all places in Fallen London, the Lab is the one I would most expect to be able to tank up on the stuff!

There's new content in the Bone Market. Not sure when it was released, but it wasn't there on release and its' there now.
Cards for new faces that require 15+ in one of the BDR stats, or 7+ in two of them. At least one Whitsun tie-in, and now some uses for Parabolan items.

They were talking about teaching students at the university. It has a different menace stat that’s tracked there.

One thing that really bothers me about this new content (which I'm loving, don't get me wrong).
To upgrade my lab, I need to get perfumed gunpowder, to do that, I need to forge holy relics and use the BDR-nuking companions to sell to the Bohemian sculptress for surface blooms. The only other option would be disambiguating hundreds of Eoliths.
So, upgrading my lab requires falsifying research and dealing with the Fingerkings, two things which my character would never do. I did it anyway, because roleplay took a back seat to seeing the new content, but now I'm stuck with these really out-of-character choices which are not very satisfying in regards to my character's story, and there aren't any other options.
Also, I find it odd that we can go into parabola and there is no option to work against the Fingerkings, considering they're generally villains in the setting.

Is there another source for the Surface Blooms? I've found ways of obtaining other materials but not that one.
Fallen London does not always in general support players with hard-line moral stances. Players who want to not commit theft have a hard time progressing the Shadowy path; players who want to avoid using relationships for personal gain have a hard time advancing along the Persuasive path. Other examples abound.
Perhaps the game could offer some alternate path, even if it's not a good one. I know someone (Dyptech?) actually did disambiguate a hundred Eoliths rather than commit research fraud. I've occasionally found myself stymied by my refusal to purchase things that can be stolen.
It's reasonable to me that you need the patronage of the Fingerkings to achieve mastery of the mirrors. It's their place, it's their thin. Perhaps betraying them is something that can come later.
Light Fingers has a way to work against the Fingerkings. I'll say no more than that.

I have noticed this with my character too. However, over the years I personally have come to value new content over an absolutely consistent persona. (Of course, humans aren't always consistent in real life, so I am consoled by that.)
But there are moral issues that bother me somewhat, even given the fact that playing a character who is engaged in fraud doesn't usually bother me. I'm not bothered by making and selling Thigh Bones of St. Fiacre, since I've only sold one of those to the cleric; the Bohemian Sculptress doesn't believe those bones to be a genuine relic, any more than my character and I do. On the other hand, the only practical way I've found to get Hinterland Scrip is by palming off corrupted Statistical tables on an NPC colleague. THAT bothers me, because it's not only fraud, but it's fraud that does an innocent (if naive) person actual career harm.
I have decided to draw one line with the Fingerkings. I haven't allowed any of them to possess creatures who can talk--I've confined myself to goldfish, weasels, and lizards--no Warblers! That way, I can minimize any damage they might try to do in London. edited by cathyr19355 on 5/15/2020

I guess what bothers me is how nonchalant the game is about this. There is nothing that implies there will be repercussions or that this is not something you should do. It's just the next logical step in game progression and that kinda short circuits any moral circuit the player might use to evaluate the decision.

Already upgraded my lab by begging eoliths off the Rubbery Servant and experimenting on them until they dissolved. No regrets!

With this week's Bone Market update, I think it's important to remember all of this is currently unfinished content. There's a railway on its way, as well as additions to the new areas and stories that have only been hinted at. If the current options don't support roleplaying, that may change! (But it also may be worth a feedback post.)

So, this may be known already, but I should comment that between all those eggs, one can also create Ancient Hunting Rifles and Infernal Sharpshooter's Rifles. (A good source of income, possibly?) Also, Finishers of BaL ambition can recreate the Jaguar Blade. stats are nothing to write about (especially for all the Parabolan research needed), but it has +1 Glasswork and brings back memories of the coolest weapon in the Neath.

This has probably been mentioned already, but if you're researching something with a Red Science focus (e.g. Aged Eggs), there's an option on the Red Science opp card unlocked with 'Confronting the Lighthearted Polymath' - a quality you can only get from playing the Season of Skies bonus story! The flavour text even mentions the Persona Engine.
Both these stories are among my all-time favourites, so this is incredibly cool - especially since this is content from 2016/17. I love these throwbacks!
For those interested, here are the storylet's echoes for success and failure. Success gave 19 Research, failure 17. edited by phryne on 5/18/2020

Strange. I have played the story and didn't see the ending. To add to the previous discussion, I loved the new content but didn't enjoy how cruel it asked you to be at times. Possessed animals? Fraud? Of course we all do bad things in the course of our lives (as Catherine said, people are complicated), and of course these things bothered me less in the beginning stages of the game, when you hadn't identified with your character yet. But this is endgame content, the characters are more solidified, and of course you should have alternatives since you know, you are someone very, very powerful. I would love a way to undo these things: I squealed with joy when the Parabolan Chessboard allowed you to work against the Liberation after all these years.
