That's not entirely true; you can't leave alone if you've redeemed anyone. (Which is what I was planning to do, but the darn thief wouldn't be gotten rid of after having been inspired).

I'm fairly sure I had the option to leave alone despite redeeming all three. But it's been a while. Maybe this has been adjusted?!

Nope, redeeming each sets that wing's quality to 3, while betraying them sets it to 10. You need exactly 3 to leave with one (and 3 on all three to leave with everyone, naturally), but 10 on all three to leave alone.
I'm slightly disappointed - the text at the end suggests there isn't any particular obstacle to leaving once you've "found yourself" or something, so in theory anyone you've redeemed should have no trouble leaving by themselves if you ditch them.
