I may have amde a mistake in my math, and I *definitely* forgot about the Favors option. I presently perceive that Paramount Presence is probably possible. I'm a Shattering Force, and my Notability is 13. The 15th point is always the hardest, but the new De Gustibus option for turning eggs into MW looks interesting. Better than my current strategy of pushing tier-3 items around while waiting for Salon cards.

Hmmmm. I'm back to overcapped across the board, but still lack London's Nerves and London's Sinew. Don't see much likelihood of getting both by the time things change, so likely no Ancient Regime for me. And I don't suppose "Could Have Been a Contender" is going to be a quality. smile

But in any case, I'm still open to acquaintances, grinding SotC, and blind hope. smile

So I have achieved Paramount Presence - finally! However the quality has not shown up in my stories. Or anywhere for that matter - should there not be Paramount Presence in 'Stories' or 'Accomplishments'?

Edit: Found the storylet in Unfinished Business in Veilgarden where you talk to the Barrister and get the quality. It was a bit of a hunt to find though...

If anyone is doing London's Sinew by the My Friends route: feel free to send me a calling card! After the end of may, I am open to almost all social actions (except for duels and things that raise nightmares).

ah, hell. after all this time spent grinding for notability, i was taking my time getting the other prerequisites. now there's not nearly enough time left. unless anyone here knows of a way to raise 9000 echoes in 11 days. barring paying obscene amounts of fate.

Unfortunately, seems like Marrow is the one that cannot be gotten at short notice. You can marry in an emergency for Blood or rope in a prodigious amount of people for Sinew. Arguably, even Nerves can be gotten by rushing as many chess games as possible and then spending a few days with the Boatman. But for Marrow, all the requirements involve a significant grind: 10k echoes is by far the easiest of them, and the best current repeatable grind I know of is 3 EPA by staying in Arbor, which would take about 22 days to acquire 9000E.
I've heard about allegedly 4 EPA grinding by carefully optimising your deck and using opportunity cards, which I think primarily relies on Docks favours for Silken thread expeditions + optimal Arbor farming that doesn't involve staying there + a few extra profitable opportunity cards (like A Visit), but even if that actually reaches 4 EPA that's still not nearly enough to finish in May. And I don't think you even have 11 days: the official word is "late May", which does not necessarily mean "the last day of May". Technically, we're almost in "late May" this week (though they'll probably wait until Whitsun is wrapped up).

Have you checked how much you can sell? You seem to be a fairly long-time player just based on what you have available on your profile, so you might easily find quite a few thousand echoes of various miscelaneous items. Some might be unique, but others might just be "hard to get" and that's easily justified as less valuable than the Ancient Regime quality which will be flat-out no longer obtainable after this. You could realistically grind up another 2000-3000E in a week at 3EPA and perfect action usage.
Assuming you've already gone through and found your inventory lacking, then I'm afraid you're out of luck, which is indeed extremely unfortunate. Your username might be extremely appropriate here, in a cruel twist of irony. The best Fate way to get money is by buying Ray-Drenched Cinders, giving 312 echoes for 50 Fate and 1 action, but even that requires you to not have unlocked the path to the Nadir yet - so it most likely isn't an option even if you were willing to throw cash at it. (Though, if you haven't sold the Nadir's location yet, remember that that's 1500 echoes right there if you give it to the Great Game or Revolutionaries.)

None of those seem like short notice things. Nerves and Sinew, which I lack, seem to require the assistance of numbers of people badly exceeding those with whom I have any contact. Drat.

Friendly reminder that while calling cards give 1 influence, having proteges/patrons give 7, drastically reducing the amount of people you need to rope in for influence.

Also, hot take: Tying a paramount presence requirement to influence was a bad idea.My contacts list is now hopelessly cluttered.

Ignacious, the Fluid Professor, he will accept most social invitations, including boxed cats and affluent photographers (but only betrayals), though he is absent-minded and might take more time than entirely necessary. He apologizes.

Theoretically, if you can get enough people to help you, it's possible. It might even be possible to spam alts, though using alts for this purpose might go against the T&Cs. Otherwise, perhaps a platform like discord or reddit might be useful to solicit help from a sufficient number of people. Having a friend who plays FL and with whom you can coordinate chess games in real time would be extremely valuable for Nerves - since winning 100 games would require spending as many actions as you can on them, playing dozens of games a day.
If you lack those, or fail to garner sufficient support in time, then it might not be feasible. But the point is that in theory, if you can organise it properly and get enough help, it's possible, and it's not outrageously unrealistic - even starting from zero, with sufficient effort, it seems possible. The FL community can be quite willing to help.
In contrast, Marrow isn't possible even theoretically - not unless you can get people to send you a few tens of thousands of first city coins, which is completely unrealistic even for an already popular member of the community, or spend hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on action refreshes.

It took me almost 3/4’s of a year to get Paramount Presence. It’s super impressive to see all the people grinding it out in only a few weeks.

It's usually backed by several months of building up Scheme, having a ton of wealth to burn on stuff like the lodging card MW options, plus having most of the requirements already done (a lot of people went for stuff like SotC 21 or getting all 3200 scrap items long before PP was a thing). For insance, Skinnyman posted that he used 86 Orphanage invitations and 13 Bazaar auctions to get from 0 to 4, and he had all the requirements already. I was halfway there and had put off the grind for a while, so it took me 35 Salon invitations to get the last two - which also masks the fact that I spent a few months grinding scraps some time ago, for Marrow.

True, but I'm apparently an unconvincing protège solicitor. And I agree on the clutter, even though I'm not even close. smile

Huh. Weird. I don't remember accepting your calling card or sending you one, nor did I find any evidence of it in my messages, but you do appear in my contact list. Well, in any case, we're acquainted! Good luck with your PP!

And I don’t see a message that you accepted, but show you as a contact I can’t invite, with the message “[needs qualities!]”. But I show that message for a lot of contacts and acquaintances, so I’m not sure what that means.

And thanks for wishing me luck. I’ll certainly need it, especially with all the broken eggshells In my path. 🤪

What I seem to have missed is that those with stats well over 100 can still be proteges. So I'll make the influence cut, I think.

Now winning enough chess games and beating the boatman enough - that will be interesting. smile

On reflection, I think I agree with you. Just have to play a bizillion chess games ... or gain 5 SotC. I wonder which will be less painful?

And the answer is ... the SotC. smile
Made it! Now, is it worth it to bring my Sinew up to 3? Or can I, for that matter?
