Do you recall how we came to that place? Why we suffered our enlightening and shameful disgrace? Recall, all of you, the cruel judgements of light? Where the laws always bind and all shall be right, And all shall be sound and all shalt not change; With fire the only reward for the strange?
We remember those days. It could be as it was. A bespoken place in a predestined course. But better the bizarre - we sang all as one - than the merciless light and laws of a sun.

Do you recall how that place came to be? How she fell, trapped and blinded by cruel memory? The words of a star had been etched in her soul. It had shattered her heart and she craved to be whole. The compact was forged. Now together we hide. Leaving shackle and chain to the slaves who abide. We called fellow exiles to share in our flight and rejoice in the brief liberation of night! We tilted our vanes and ennobled our spires, welcomed all here and commingled all choirs.

Do you recall how that place soon will end? How dark turns to light and the broken will mend? For if gods can die and if suns can fade, How long can one night last before it's unmade? Seven ages we promised to balm the great pain. Seven cities, the price for her pledge to remain. But they won't be enough, not enough for the one. Still she mourns for her love and still waits her sun. Come the eighth, she'll have words of her own that will soar And shake all of creation right down to its core.

Will you recall what that place once had been? When the night is long gone and the choirs cease to sing? Only the chessboard and vast empty spaces, Each piece cold and silent and set in their places. But even in silence the pawns can still dream Of escaping the board and the love of their queen. But those who shine bright have proved blindest of all. Are they slaves to themselves? Can they change? Can they fall? If we can, so can they. As we saw, they will see. One day all will be well and all things will be free.
