Or is it just me? I use a few of the whitelisted scripts but disabling them didn't help. It runs fine until it suddenly doesn't and gives me the shower of sparks screen or gets stuck loading the storylet.

Yes. Usually the game comes up pretty quickly after a crash, but I couldn't reach it for most of Saturday, and now I can't log in again--I just get the spinning circle when I try. Probably the diversion of FBG's attention to Sunless Skies has something to do with why the current problem with FL hasn't been fixed by now.

I have frequently gotten the shower of sparks screen. Luckily, I am still able to play, but at a slower rate.

Not so much crashing as stalling for me. I click on things and nothing happens, or it takes ages to do so. The problem was present all weekend, but has worsened today. Right now, the game is very nearly unplayable.

Me too. (Yes, I finally registered here just to see what was going on.)
The thing that's happening with me is that I'll click on something, and nothing happens; then I reload, and maybe I'll get the "something's gone terribly wrong" screen once or twice (or sometimes not at all) but when I do eventually get back into the game, I'll find myself in the storylet I'd clicked for earlier. It's like the game recognises that I've entered a storylet but never gets around to telling me.
Or: instead of getting the result of an action, I'll just get a blank page. Reload, and I'm back outside, with no idea what the result of the action was, except that it's happened.

For the recent few hours my Firefox (65.0) doesn't catch server responses when I perform actions, open cards and storylets, and move between London areas. Results simply don't appear, and FL gets stunned. I refresh the page after almost every single click. The game state (on server-side) apparently is updated as it should be, because I see all the expected effects of my actions after reload.
I wonder if this is a StoryNexus problem? Because FL-specific stuff (pics and scripts for the most part) loads pretty well.

Mine's been acting weird and I'm on Chrome. I've had points where storylets haven't loaded correctly but my actions have been used. Clearing the cache didn't help either.
