How's the new year treating everyone? Going good? I metamorphosed into a giant cockle at the first light of the moon, but otherwise, smooth sailing here! Anyhow, here's this week's quick questions thread.

Sir Frederick, the Libertarian Esotericist. Lord Hubris, the Bloody Baron.
Juniper Brown, the Ill-Fated Orphan. Esther Ellis-Hall, the Fashionable Fabian.

I was talking about Theological Husbandry cards; if there's a list about their results.

Because each Theological Husbandry option on the breeding storylet is locked if you already have the companion it produces, you can actually see the results before picking the option just by mouseovering the requirements. Presumably this is also why they're in the wiki despite being fate-locked.

I think I need to emphasize more on the word *cards*. As in the results of the new pet cards; Slavering Dream-Hound, Obdurate Stallion, Ocular Toadbeast (from Flute Street), Corresponding Ocelot and Bifurcated Owl. If they all have a card of course! And while on the Toadbeast, does the Rubbery Hound have any cards?

They all have cards (except the Rubbery Hound). The Dream-Hound actually has two cards, but one of them is Rare. There's also a storyline that advanced via cards, but that's finite and does not permanently add anything to your deck when concluded.

Are you asking about whether the cards are valuable and worth the Fate, or are you considering Theological Husbandry for other reasons and wondering if you're consigning yourself to a clogged deck? All of the Beasts can be sold and re-bred repeatedly, so you can avoid any cards you find not worth your time.

The Ocelot provides scandal reduction, the Dream Hound 75 honey drops, the stallion a 50-50 chance at a society favor... I forget the toad though.

The Owl card provides a chance at an Aeolian Scream or lets you use a weasel for a chance at SotC up to 10.

I have two invitations to a game of chess, but I can only decline them. I suppose there must be another unfinished game of chess with someone else...? But how do I find out who it is, and what should I do with it?

If the "Accept the game" choices are greyed out - it is either a bug (which should be reported), or you have zero actions. IIRC, "Decline" costs no actions so you can still click it, whereas the other two cost one action so they're greyed out if you have none available.

If your opponent is already engaged in a game, you can still click the "Accept" choices, but their names will not show up on the drop-down list of users. They will appear under "Users you can't invite" as "need[ing] qualities".

As to what to do... if it's not a bug, keep checking that storylet for whenever that person re-appears on that drop-down list so you can accept the game, or just decline it. (Yup, I've done this a lot.)

EDIT (after reading Jolanda's post): I may have misunderstand Iyaiyai's question. My post applies if you're not already playing chess. (You can check your own status, the Story quality is "Chess: Progress of the Match" or similar.) Based on the quality requirements for invitation, I was under the impression that if you're already in a chess game with someone else, others can't send you new invitations (ie. you won't show up on their drop-down list). But I may be wrong, and/or a bug may be affecting Iyaiyai now.

Concerning chess, I had to send an e-mail to the support twice, to extricate myself from a match the other player had left unfinished. I couldn't find any other solution, either.

Should I create a Noman today, or wait until the 24th? (My Time the Healer comes Thursday evening.) I can pull a lot of cards on weekends, but during the weekdays I'm probably only pulling 12-20 cards per day.

I quite like receiving Calling Cards.
I am open to most social actions (including trading boxed cats), and am happy to help with menaces or actions involving second chances.

It costs 9 ToL today, and will cost 15 ToL on the 24th. That's a big jump, but it's up to you if you have the ToL to spend. If you get it on the 24th, you'll only have about a week to raise Noman's Friend. If you can raise it to the point you want in that time, doing 12-20 cards per day, sure. The Noman card is abundant, but you'll have to pull it a bunch of times to raise NF before it's too late.

I do have the ToL to spend (currently level 18, because of some left over from last year), but it sounds like I'll probably be safer to spend more resources and start raising NF sooner.

Does anyone have any idea when Penstock's Wicket closes, or if it's tied to Time the Healer in any way? If it IS tied to Time, then perhaps it could come with the next, or preferably the one thereafter. If no, anyone have any last-year insight? Hopefully "Late january" doesn't come earlier than expected...

I'm having trouble reading echoes. Could someone please point out how to see them? When I click on the link (both mobile and web), it redirects to my own FL game or to the login page if I'm logged out. Am I missing something?

Can you provide the link that you're trying to use?

There are two big recent changes that can cause old journal links to break. When journal links break, the result is usually a redirect back to your own game. The more recent change was the migration from the storynexus domain to fallenlondon.com. Further back, Fallen London changed (2 or 3 times!) how they handle special characters like spaces in the middle of character names. You may have to manually edit old links to get them to work.

It usually closes the end of January (the 31st), or sometimes in the past it's closed on February 1st.
