Greetings.
I am of the opnion that when it come to votes, people should know the truth of their candidates.
I have done some digging on the matter and I can say this: Both A Flash Lay and Investiating give extra info on each candidate. Info that may swing your vote one way or another.
I sincerely suggest checking out both of these options for each candidate before placing your mind on where your vote lies.

Absolutely! I was backing Jenny anyway, but even more so since I've learned more about the others...

I do find it fascinating that each of the three candidates is in fact not what they initially are appearing to be. I like that depth. Rewarding our research with this sort of thing pleases me greatly. Well done FBG.

On the other hand, it is really weird that you are casting a vote BEFORE taking a look at the candidates.

Technically, I don't think we've cast our ballot's yet. We're campaigning. Trying to convince others (primarily, it seems, London's non player residents) to vote for the candidate we've chosen to support. Who you've chosen doesn't matter until the election ends on the 18th. And should you discover something particularly distasteful about a candidate you can change sides at the cost of half your election career level (or no cost with fate). Which I encourage you to do. To Jenny. Because monster hunting ninja nuns.

@Estelle: you're kidding, right? A vast majority of voters (in RL) don't bother to inform themselves at all before their vote. For a demonstration of this, consider that the biggest Google check *after* the Brexit vote was "What is the EU?"

I always think this is a flawed example . . .
In RL, we have no idea who made said searches: school children for projects, non-voters that were curious, immigrants wanting to know how their rights would be affected, lazy searchers who wanted something else but clicked whatever auto-correct said . . . you can't assume that people searching one thing are the same people voting in another, just saying. Correlation isn't causation, as they say.

How do you find this extra info? Just performing a regular flash lay? I didn't see any election related options there when you start. Or is there a special election flash lay hidden somewhere?

Go to the Silver Election storylet where you can start special election Flash Lay / detective cases / other stuff. Regular cases and flush lays won't work.

After completing a flash lay you get the opportunity to learn something about one of the candidates. I believe investigations do this as well, but I'm not sure if you pick your target at the start or at the end.
Edit: and yes, you have to start the special election flash lays has investigating from the silver election card to access these. edited by An Individual on 7/5/2016

Well, your investigation are pretty much espionage for your own curiosity instead of anything else and far more than a typical person's attempt at informing themselves.
And story/RP-wise, it is really weird that even the curious swing voters have to declare support first BEFORE they can dig up dirt and then go back to change their votes.

At times, one must become a cog in the machine before they can have any true effect on the system. (You actually have a fair point, I'm just trying to play devil's advocate here). Real politicians do have things they hide and plenty of backers willing to support them without knowing them until someone like us digs a little deeper. I figured that's what advancing your career was; outing your information to the public or improving your choice's public image.
