Does anyone know how to keep the Snow Child alive? I cried when he died. Also, can we play this again? Or was it a one time story?

There was a Mr Sacks, once upon a time. He was quite unlike the Sackses who have visited us over the past few years. We don't know who or what he was, or what has happened to him.
Question: is there any extra content with the little snowchild for a captain who is planning to go East themselves?
(I can only have one spoiler per reply so I am responding to the last two replies.)
Uglydancer, it is one story per Captain. If the child has died, you are stuck until next Captain, unless Merciful mode is enabled and you can reload a save game. Every captain gets this. In the future, you need to go where Laws are ignored, and such Shocking advice will help, but it needs to be set. Have you learned what a Longbox and Heartmetal are from? Go there and continue, and he...she...it will stop melting. You then can continue as you are told or would expect to go as far as you can in the Direction mentioned as much as a captain can go in that direction/went in that direction/will go in that direction...damnit, it happened AGAIN!
Sir Frederick Tanah-Chook, try not completing your Mr. Sacks task, and....well, Spacemarines9 was right about this one being a real [CENSORED!] Alas, I too haven't done it with that "Hidden Ambition" yet but it saying at that above Port [Their Journey has truly begun] or something very similar to that manner makes me wonder as well when my planned captain does it seeing if anything else is "uncovered." Alas, I have not heard of anybody finding content along the way, but I look forward to the next person who finishes the Ambition after the successful Snow Child outcome to see what (if anything) the "End Game" does then. (But I'm only trying it once if somebody is waiting for me, and I have about three other Father's Bones first to do with later Captains after my current one.)

Thank you, Truthseeker, it seems that I have more exploring before I should try this story again.

One of the possible endings for the Snow Child seems to have been inspired by
what Reepicheep does at the end of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (one of the Narnia books by CS Lewis
. I couldn't bear to let the poor thing melt so as soon as I found out there was a solution I dashed around the zee like crazy.

Loved the moody menacing ambiance of sinister Mr. Sacks! He was a great add. Sounds like I need another captain to try the Snow Child plotline again, aargh.

Well yeah, like I said I'm not sure which Master is this Sacks's Original. I don't really know much about Mr. Fires but this doesn't really strike me as quite the same behavior, especially the rivalry issue since the only conflict I remember involving him was with Spices.
Mr. Wines has a rivalry with Mr Spices concerning dreams, so it is likely to not be related to Nomen. Mr. Fires has a rivalry with Mr. Stones concerning a box and whether London should stay or go, so it does not seem related, either. Mr. Veils has a rivalry with... someone who is no longer around, that is urging people to go North.
We can automatically rule out Stones (talks in very short sentences), Irons (silent), and Pages (uses perfectly cromulent words).
My theory is that this Sacks is either Mr. Veils or his rival.
edited by th8827 on 1/17/2016
