if one looks to the wiki, this exists, but it doesn't say how to acquire this fifth POSI status.

On another note, what's the point in advancing one's status?

An excellent question, to which no-one knows the answer! And another good question, to which there is an answer. There's a big discussion of Paramount Presences over here, Specialising your POSI status in one of the known ways lets you become a Patron and train other players, and also occasionally offers bonus storylets!

Nope. People tried that, or max connected to everything, or max quirks, and a ton of other things, but with no success

I wonder if the Admins/Moderators/Authors/Whatever enjoy using it like a toy to tease the player base.

Likely Big Grin
I wonder how hard can it be... We have people who played for years, with everything maxed, heptagoat and even cider, and its not enough. That status is either something very difficult to discover, or something that requires YEARS of grinding

I doubt it, it has been retired. And anyways i dont think it was ever finished by the devs, but we know that being a paramount presence IS possible

As a mere forum admin, I haven't the foggiest what the answer is! Failbetter keep their cards close to their chest, and it works for them.

I didn't know there was a difference between forum admins and game admins. Considering the topic of discussion, i wonder how much cash one would have to choke out to bribe the top brass (joking!)

Some of the forum admins are FBG staff, but I'm just a volunteer, here to help swat spam and offer directions where necessary.

I've never seen anything, inside the game or outside it, which indicates that Paramount Presence is actually implemented (other than the desires of obsessed fansbon the forums, that is).

Personally, it seems more likely to me to be a placeholder for future content (similar to the more advanced professions, which are not available, yet their names are visible).

Even the heptagoat came with a confirmation hint from the devs ("it is already among us").

I never quite understood why people interpreted "multiple people at various stages of Paramount Presence" as meaning it was possible to achieve in the game. Well I do understand, it's called grindalicious mystery-hunting fun and wishful thinking (of the sort that comes to bite tantalize-giddy developers in the rear end, ALEX)

It IS fun. But I would not tell any player that Paramount Presence is possible, that's pure speculation.

That's not him confirming it's live, believe me. Various people are at various stages of the Ambitions and it's not possible to complete those. At the very least, what it means is that Alexis knows which qualities / stories / forms of progress are required to unlock Paramount Presence, perhaps "eventually" but not necessarily now. It could still be in planning (like so many FL story threads).

Actually, being at a certain stage in something does imply that the thing is obtainable. Otherwise it would be meaningless to even define "stages". Maybe the devs used the wrong expression, but if they knew what they said, it IS possible to be a PP

I remember that old thread and I\ve never seen this as outright confirmation. That original thread was 90% about the mystery of the Passion destiny, with only side references to things such as the heptagoat and Paramount Presence.

Just the sentence "various people are at various stages of the Paramount Presence line" by itself, for me all it confirms is that *if* PP is available, a few people are on the right path.

That is: It's possible that to be PP you need to go through all 4 POSI specializations, and since the mechanism to change specialization isn't available yet, not one can achieve PP. This fits the sentiment of the message back then from Alexis, since IIRC that thread was not longer after the POSI specialization were first introduced.

Of course, I might be mistaken, and PP is readily available. Who knows, maybe all it takes is giving a heptagoat a drink of Cider? Maybe you need 10000 Connected for all factions. Maybe you need 7 of every item from the Bazaar.

The point is that the possibilities are literally endless. Without specific data, I'll use Occam's Razor and go with the simpler explanation that this is not yet in the game.

It really doesn't imply that unless you very much want it to. Last month people were at various stages of completing Flint, but the end hadn't been released yet. Players in the game right now may have all the necessary qualities to be a Paramount Presence, but the storylet that grants it simply may not exist, or be hidden with a Key of Dreams on it, or stuck way down in the hole area. The same is true of establishing a Parabolan Base-Camp: you can have all the requirements and be at a certain stage of that story (became a Glassman, etc) without being able to actually do the next step; it has an Impossible on it. We're all at various stages of the Dilmun Club, the Watchmaker's Daughter story, etc etc that cannot be completed.

It's also funny to imagine that you need a certain number of every item in the game, such as numbers that when concatenated together in the correct secret order form the first 1000 digits of pi. That's certainly possible. Get to work determining the order! Hint: Watchful is first
