Delicious friends, the first of our Exceptional Stories is now available: a Gothic mystery of past glories entitled...

"Ivy dreams sullenly and alone of overthrowing the cities." - Dunsany, The Blessing of Pan
A malevolent presence has driven the Prim Baronet from his ancestral home. His nights are riddled with nightmares.
Brave the mists. Travel to his crumbling, ivied marsh mansion. Gather clues, but guard your sanity. Fear sleep! Can you unravel the Haunting at the Marsh-House?
All players can encounter the Prim Baronet as he emerges from the mists of Bugsby's Marshes. Exceptional Friends can continue his tale from the House of Chimes.
In addition to a new, substantial, stand-alone story every month, Exceptional Friends enjoy:
- Access to the House of Chimes: an exclusive private member's club on the Stolen River, packed with content!
- An expanded opportunity deck: of ten cards instead of six!
- A second candle: Twice the actions! 40 at once!

Just started into this and it's fantastic so far. I made the society choice at the end of the Trade in Faces. You'll have to dig a little to see the relevant echo on my profile as I've been echoing things as I go but it's there.

So I've been reading up on the history of Bugsby's Marshes, wondering whether the Marsh House corresponds to a real residence. I've discovered some marvellous things - the existence of a locale known as "Cockpull Reach", that the video for Blur's excellent Parklife used the local terrace houses as its backdrop - and also the existence of an East Lodge, Marsh Lane, which was rumoured to have unexpectedly extensive, rambling and generally unusual cellars. These were speculated to date back to the Tudor period, being of an older style than the house itself. The Lodge had some eccentric (some would say notorious) owners, and equally suspect visitors. Not knowing the area, my speculation may be comically misguided, but I wouldn't be surprised if, somewhere in one of the Marsh House's empty rooms, there's a stuck drawer full of dusty correspondence addressed to the East Lodge, Marsh Lane.

Sent a PM to twelve people who I think requested a PM detailing the material rewards for the final decision. If I sent a PM to you and you didn't want to have the information, apologies.
While I understand FBs desire for their hard work and livelihood not to be given away for free, there has got to be a better way of disseminating this information without cluttering a discussion thread with 'me too's.

Ive finally completed the Marsh house.
You need to start with as few nightmares as possible, because you will get lots. Also use nightmare suppressing items. Resting always give 1 or 2 points in nightmare. The house has multiple areas(servant quarters, bigsly room, upstairs, and gardens. You probably need Hedonist 10 and Melancholic at 5 or 6 for some tests. Under all circumstances ignore look outside the window, dinner,go to bed until forced, lunch or gathering cards you are on a tight timetable. You are here to gather clues and solve a mistery and not dalliance. You should focus on special actions (aka clues). You probably should ignore the garden and concentrate on the house.Try to visit each area each day. You need to find enough clues to discover a second cellar and its inhabitant contained in it. Start to investigate the maid from bigsly room and then you will get a sound and some clues about the mushrooms. In here you will find the Hedonist and Melancholic tests. You should probably not being able to finish if you don't succeed in those tests. In the final day the last clues at least for me where in servants quarters. Also try to click on the clues you find. If you finish the clues in a room move to the next. At the end you have 3 choices give the house to the baronet , baronet nephew or keep to your self. The baronet and his nephew gives rewards that you can buy for 62.5 echo at bazaar(useful for connections I believe) and keep to yourself gives access to a secluded dwelling like townhouse that you can only buy at Christmas. I believe that the address allows to ignore city of vices series cards.
That was my fresh experience with the Haunting at Marsh House. If you have any questions please ask when Im fresh.

I think you're right, and we could do with some mod trimming, given the Ocelot's last answer especially. I've always been reluctant to do that, because I know it looks like a draconian response to quite a trivial and benign kind of interaction - but it's like thread necroing - once isn't a problem, constantly is a real nuisance.
We do have some journal improvements in the pipeline, which will help, but not for a while.

I'm happy to trim/move/merge posts, going on and retroactively, if there's a solid policy for what to do with them. This thread did turn into a very, very low budget Bingo call. (Who's got a 1? 1? How about a 3? 2! Who's got 2? ...1?)

Dear friends,
i unfortunatelly fail to gather necessary proofs and conclusions so i got nothing but nightmares out of a 30 action story. As I bought EF only becouse this story looked really promising(not that i didn't enjoy it), i can't help feeling frustrated. Do I understand correctly that there is no way for me to replay the story?
Thanks for answer

I entered without realising that I simply amn't ready to complete the story (0 actions and nightmares/wounds at 2-3). Is there any way of coming out and going back in later? Am quite happy to reset any progress (not that I have any at the moment), but this is really annoying since I've been planning to do other things first.
Edited to add: As a new user who bought exceptional friendship within the first few days of playing, there are bits of game mechanics that I'm not very familiar with yet, such as not realising that the warning that it isn't for those with a lot of nightmares means that you enter and can't just come out by clicking "perhaps not" or expending an action. (Am mainly annoyed because this is paid content, so I'd expect an easy way to postpone this till later.) edited by navchaa on 4/30/2015

Folks, it's fine for you to echo the information to your journals (and use the notes field to store the reward). It's fine for you to link to your journals. It's also fine for you to discuss the endings. And it's fine for you to establish communities to chat about it offline.
As a reminder, here's the kind of thing we object, and don't object to:

All people need to do, then, is link to their journals in the thread and then people look at the thread and find the links. Problem solved.
I did this earlier, but apparently it was overlooked:
option three, reward, update on reward

Definitely enjoyed exploring the Marsh-House, although with a 3-day timetable and days that passed so quickly, did feel a bit rushed. First time I went in with about 3-4 in Nightmares, which was a mistake. Had enough Cryptic Clues but did spend time exploring the various spots getting more. And then left on the third day unexpectedly via the Royal Beth.
Alas, lost all me dream progress, wasn't so much but 'tis irritating. Before returning to the Marsh-House via my Lodgings, dropped in on the House of Chimes and requested a couple of vials of Honeyed Laudanum from Mr. Chimes so as not to be caught short again (had the chance before my first visit and foolishly passed it up).
Then with a vague sense of what to do, returned to the House. Negotiated my way about investigating and tracked down all of the clues, I do believe, as well as indulging in poking about in the parts where I'd not gone before.
And so I solved it. Now, what to do, what to do. Haven't done the previous content which other comments here seem to imply are linked to this. Perhaps by the Prim Baronet? As for what to do with this case, unsure, although inclined to the third option. Land, not making any more of it. Have a fine collection of it so far and always looking for new places to go and stay. Especially if it's a special sort of place, which it seems it would be. Have PM'ed another dear member of our happy band asking for some information.

However, overall I liked the story. Subscribed yesterday and look forward to stay subscribed if all the stories are of this quality.

My advice is to go in with as little nightmare as possible (and bring some cryptic clue). No regular stats challenge so it is all-level.
A lot of new art by the way!

Very Satisfied with this story! It really made me think about how my character would act in this situation. Other branching paths didn't cause this sort of dilemma, but since the decision was more about how Mathieu relates to...certain sorts of people than any strict principles, the decision was an interesting one! I took the second option, if anyone was curious.

Hmm. Just completed the story (love it!) for a character who chose the society option with the face-tailor storyline. This was acknowledged with the start text, but I was disappointed that it wasn't with the conclusion when I clued him in on what was happening in the house. Great story though, and the reward is most welcome.

Very nice story. I wish I could have spent a little bit more time walking in the corridors and visiting the place, I'm sure I missed some texts. But it was really interesting !
I'm just surprised by the tone of the story. It begins very strange and creepy, but this atmosphere doesn't last. It lacks this... disturbing mood that the story promises. But I really liked it !
