The Grandmaster Club is a club of those who play chess and would like their skill to be recognized.

There are a few requirements to join the Grandmaster Club:
1. A Scholar of the Correspondence 3
2. Watchful 90; Base Watchful at least 70
3. Mastery of the Game 5
4. A Person of Some Importance

There are a few rules for within the club:
1. Do not use Irrigo moves.
2. Do not hum at your opponent.
3. You may only play against those who have the same level of Mastery as you.

What if one goes to the Cave after obtaining membership?

It is rather impossible to check Irrigo unless one displays it publicly.

pleasure to meet you.

Has some ideas the Masters won't approve of like some items and establishing a Colony in Parabola.

I will accept most social interactions (not duping). I do enjoy role playing as well.
Have some possibly still active codes!

Going to the cave is acceptable. I almost wrote a clause into the rules, but figured the "No Irrigo Moves" rule would give that away.

I also almost got rid of the rules pertaining to Irrigo, but kept them.

Not sure if this is meant to be a player organization like the SRS. If so, it should be under "The Singing Mandrake", which is for social activities. "The Salons" is for lore/story discussion. (Don't worry - mods can move it if it's an issue)

I know a similar endeavor was attempted over at r/fallenlondon, but I never really kept track of that. Regardless, I'd suggest that these rules seem mostly unenforceable and rather arbitrary.
  • Humming at an opponent and irrigo moves have no added negative effect on the opponent.
  • Watchful moods are by definition unenforceable because they're equipped items.
  • Player stats are hidden.

This is also needlessly restrictive in membership, in my opinion. That's not bad, per se - it's just that it's odd, to me, to create an apparatus for high-level chess when most benefits from chess come at lower levels, where it's a reliable source of Sudden Insights. With Scholar of the Correspondence, you can reach Investigations in the University, which is the most effective Watchful grind in the game, I believe.
Essentially, this club would seem limited to those playing chess for fun, which is fine, but will be a much smaller demographic.

... Hm. Didn't think of that. I banned humming at the opponent because I count that as foul play, and banned Irrigo moves for RP reasons involving the Irrigo.
Although, as I read the rules over, I actually can't join it myself. Base Watchful 110... Mine is 102.
With the hidden stats, that would be a problem, unless a certain bug gets fixed. Said bug fix would also allow the moods rule to be enforced, as equipment would show, if you were to check a profile.
Thanks for telling me about the rules flaws! I'll update the rules in a second.

Just updated the rules. Moods are allowed, though my thought had been: Moods are like steroids. In a physical sport, you wouldn't want someone using steroids.
The no Irrigo rule has been scratched off, but the no Irrigo moves rule stands.
I also changed the Watchful minimum. You can have an augmented Watchful at 90 and join.

Besides, the high-end thing did not rid all benefits. Making Waves is an example, and tournies (yes, this is basically a Watchful-type SRS) would have rewards at the end.

You can edit if you want to now. I have not added your name. I could add your name, if you wanted. You would have to fill in your other stuff, though.

Should we add our SoTC level to the doc?

Also, I have put my name on this list.

You do not need to list your Scholar of the Correspondence. It would be another thing to track.

Thank you, I added myself! I had no idea irrigo moves and humming were harmful actions, to be honest.

They aren't. I just consider the humming to be foul play. The Irrigo move ban was due to the fact that we need to remember outcomes, and Irrigo is the color of forgetting.

It seems to me that only being able to fight players with the same mastery of the game would be INCREDIBLY limiting.

If I have mastery 10, and only one other person has mastery 10... that means I cannot fight anyone else in the club... ever.

I like the idea of a more organized chess club like this (to my knowledge there are no similar organizations) but this seems incredibly flawed to me.

And regardless, in real life there have always been players who have won less matches but have proven themselves superior to their opponents, regardless of the difference in wins.
