Dear Fellow madmen and madwomen,

Post your greatest ramblings here! Maybe we can find some Searing Enigmas amongst the Maniac Prayers and Aeolian Screams!

Thanks to Phryne for helping me find some clarity in my own ramblings

I don't particularly feel like typing out my entire posting history in this thread.

EDIT: Lemme summarize some stuff I've done.

- I once wrote an absurd romantic fanfiction of Reader x Mr. Sacks because I unwittingly made a bet with myself.

- Made a huge thread of Sunless Sea achievements in an effort to reconcile the people who couldn't get achievements due to bugs. (This was before I revamped my profile as Tystefy.)

- I revamped my profile into "Tystefy" the puppo because I wanted to alleviated election heat during the election earlier this year.

- Made an un-correct-able spelling error in my revamped profile introduction thread.

- Did a bunch of absurd stuff in Sunless Sea, including and not limited to: Figured out the seven letters of the Name-Which Burns, figured out who would win: Dawn Machine or Revolutionaries, somewhat attempted to create a mod about an omniscient entity who's utterly bored with everything, ...

- The Sevenfold-Stick Incident, of which we don't talk about.

- Constantly and consistently typed "Feducci" as "Feduchini".

- I would create entire threads dedicated to silly questions. I would always include a poll even if it was completely unnecessary.

- I would rush into seemingly oblivious threads, post a funny comment about the current topic, then rush out in a Guerilla Warfare style.

- Almost confessed my love to Optimatum, but caught myself.

And finally (for now), my most favorite-ist comment I've done, in response to a thread about posting horrific truths:

The big secret to Enigma is that Alexis Kennedy has left Failbetter.

Truth burns.

[Searing enigmas, eh? Name-Which-Burns, you say?]

[Well, I did once write up a tale of an academic's quest for a Sunless Sea surmise, in the heart of Frostfound itself. Ought to be satisfactorily incomprehensible.]

The Innocent Spy comes upon the Student more by luck than judgement, by the toilsome noise of enigmas clicking into place. This too is an engine, in the old sense.

"Heart of darkness," the Student says briefly. "Crushing light and identity down to a single horizon. Why’d you come? You shouldn't have."

Perhaps the only comment that could have made the Innocent stay; but stay he does, though none of this is right. For all their months together on the Unterzee, he still knows so little about University studies, only self-taught Correspondence, and yet he understands what's happening. The madness taking his shipmate-

"One."

A single syllable, strung out until it cracks. Where the stone struck, while I fought my way to the Gate. But what return is due the exile-

"Two."

He presses his fingertips to burning letters. (Which he? What would distinguish?) Sunlight, leaping up! So young, but not too young for birthright.

"Three."

Writ in blood or writ in fire? A memory of snow, and naked need - mine, but whose else? What Hour would turn human?

"Four."

The Student's voice falters. This one's for me, isn't it? All those dooms the Herald spoke of, and I never would believe- a children's tale-

"Five."

This the Innocent, in the soft silence. He spoke of treasures below, and her riding light dimmed, as if she were laughing.

"Whose? I must know whose!"

"Don't you recognise your own ship's wake?" the Innocent asks in surprise (the light is so very much alike now, to his engineer's eye). Wind tugging at her stays, water swirling at her chine, as she considers his offer...that's six.

"And seven is the number. The Name-Which-Burns, the traveller returning-"

A fumble in the darkness- and no more Student. Just a thing, wailing a single dreadful cry with no intelligence or thought behind it, but their utter absence...

Alright. Then riddle me this.

Q: Why did the tomb-colonist go and visit his family?

A: Because he wanted to see his mummy!

No? Then how about this?

Q: Why do the Revolutionaries want to overthrow the Masters?

A: Because the Masters' rule drives them batty!

No? Hmm...

Q: Why is the Stiff-Backed Lady so stiff-backed?

A: Because she's dead!

Poor taste, I acknowledge. Like a drop of poison. 'Cries'

Q: Why did a Young Stag eat only fungus?

A: Because he's a stag!

Get it?

Q: Why did the prisoner weep when he saw a pile of Glim pass his cell window?

A: Because he saw a glimmer of hope!

I heard that was a good one, but I am far from done.

Q: Why should never date Mr Sacks?

A: Because he only wants to have you in the sack.

Risque, but true.

Q: Why does Mr Irons never speak?

A: Because he still needs to 'iron' out his voice!

Hmmm...

Q: How does the Vake fly so high?

A: Because he is always 'vake'd!

You know, because- never mind.

Q: Why did the anarchist throw away his telegraph?

A: Because he was always being hung up on!

Wait, did they use that phrase back then?

Q: Why did the devil become a cobbler?

A: Because he wanted all the soles!

All your sole are belong to us.

If you're drowned in the Neath, you wake up with a hangover. Mr Eaten was drowned. Therefore, he's too hung over for the Reckoning.

You know it's true.

You wake up drunk because you had too much beer the night before.

...wow, do hangovers outlast even coming back to life? I guess they do.
