I tried to interpret it myself, but end up with "thoooooooo" occupying my mind. I beg you, all the linguists in the Neath, to tell a foreign traveller what it is actually. Thank you!
(1)
MAGICIAN: It's good to see you up and about with everyone else. Wasn't sure how adaptable your sort was. Your mantle crest seems quite -
OUTCAST: Nishe. Fffine. ("Neathy. Fine."?)
MAGICIAN: Quite, yes. But those ah, extrusions - your liminalities and, ah, that light? Surely -
OUTCASE: Thhhurvithed worttth. ("The hurt is worth"??)

(2)
CARNELIAN EXILE: You.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Ffrhume? (??)
CARNELIAN EXILE: I want your secrets.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Ffiefhh humth! (??)
CARNELIAN EXILE: As you will. I can wait.

(3)
CARNELIAN EXILE: You again.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Fffrah erffuhth. ("From afar"??)
CARNELIAN EXILE: I've waited long enough. There's more to you now.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Intheth nath Frosttfhounf!("In the north Frostfound")
CARNELIAN EXILE: No. No more. The stars are hungry. I'm running out of time.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Eatht. The Eatht.("East. The East.")
CARNELIAN EXILE: That's all? That's all you have for me? ...d__n you. D__n every one of you. May Axile burn.

(4)
BANDAGED POISSONNIER: Just a little, now.
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Fotharoothathoth! (??)
POISSONNIER: Now, now. You'll grow it back.
OUTCAST: Etha! Ssithakothothooth! (??)
POISSONNIER: You are not a generous soul.

(5)
NACREOUS OUTCAST: Othatooroth ithacithi? (??)
SHADY COOK: Baragerralock. (??)

(6)
CANNONEER: Hello!! I have a question for you.
OUTCAST: Fhel nafham. (??)
CANNONEER: You're a shapeling, aren't you?
OUTCAST: Gosph nfoo ffierreffof. (??)
CANNONEER: Do you know anything about the Red Science?
OUTCAST: Feroo. FEROO. (Error?)
CANNONEER: No, I understand, but -
OUTCAST: FERRO ieh FHESH. (Error is flesh?)
CANNONEER: Oh, suit yourself.

(And this one, may not be rubbery)
For the Shady Cook in Wisdom, there is:
"Worracoovaprisnz," he says dangerously. "Lemmesithertow!"
("Oracular prison. Let me see the ???" ...toad? I'm not sure.)
Are these random officer banter events? I've never seen any of these; were they added in zubmariner or in a recent update? The only banter I've ever seen in Sunless Sea is the one between the Tireless Mechanic and the Irrepressable Cannonneer.

They were here before Zubmariner(but they are extremely rare, in 177 hours I only remember seeing two of them, had to read the rest on the wiki).

That's a pity...I've always enjoyed banter among party members in RPGs. I thought the Mechanic/Cannonner conversation that I saw (which, for the record, I've seen happen only twice in 200+ hours) was the only one in the game. The frequency at which these officer conversations happen should really be much higher. Most players of Sunless Sea probably only ever see a single banter, if any.

4 and 5 are definitely not supposed to be words - those are exact noises that Rubbery Men say in FL without being in any sort of conversation.

BANDAGED POISSONNIER: Just a little, now.

  • Smart move by the Nacreous Outcast. The rubberies know what happened to the *last* poor bastard who fell for that line, and a reckoning will not be postponed indefinitely.

    There are conversation events?

Seriously, the frequency of them needs to be increased. I'm sick of seeing "Hey look a new star was made" or "Ignore the ramblings and reduce terror a bit" events that pop up so constantly.
Enough of those, I want to hear what my crew is saying to each other.

I agree. If anyone reading this is also a Sunless Skies backer, it might be something to mention during development as a feature that we want to see (more) of in the game.

I suspect "ferro/ feroo" is ferrous/iron, not error. "Ffrhume" is likely some variation of "Who, me?"

I've put in my best guess for some of the lines, hopefully in a differently colored text. Forgive me if the formatting is off; it's my first time giving it a whirl.

So much dialogue. Even with the starter crew you have before you cast them off at their destinations.
And I have not seen a single bit of it.

Sunless Skies better have it be more frequent because it is ridiculous that despite all the writing and effort put into most of the game, you don't get to see a big chunk of it, over the "Look at the new star! Look at that Glim!" etc...

Then again, the seas wouldn't be as terrifying if all you got was crew banter over say, imagining a fish or having a restless night.

I'm pretty sure "Othatooroth ithacithi" is just general Rubbery noises rather than an attempt at English.
