I am not exactly sure if there is something unknown to me or if there is a glitch of some kind- but I am an exceptional friend, and I have no option to jump into the tale without doling out fate as I have with previous exceptional stories- is this something a bit different?

Yes. This isn't an EF story, but an 'extra' story smile

You'll still get your EF story next week, on the last Thursday, but - as this is 'extra' - it requires fate for payment.

I am running into a bit of a problem. My characters are having trouble accessing the Finishing School carousel.
One of my characters completed it once and chose the slower conclusion that doesn't re-route you back.
My other character has not yet participated in the carousel, having opted to finish other stories in London beforehand. Now that they are ready to begin the carousel, the storylet is nowhere to be found.
I am not sure if my choices have disposed me to awaiting the storylet in the same way that one waits for a living story, or if the storylet is located in an area I have missed.

[edit] Thank you, suinicide! The storylet was in Ladybones Road all along. My mistake.

Commentary on mechanical rewards, in spoiler tags:
I'm out of action so I can't finish the story, but it seems that the school offers repeatable access to a 50/50 shot at Tomb-Colony or Docks favors? That's wonderful, since I don't like visiting the Tomb-Colonies themselves and their favors are otherwise hard to come by.

The "difficult" students all have a secondary graduation option. I unlocked the Zailor's based on my reward from The Gift--are the other two unlocked with different endings?
Non-reward discussion: I will be running through the school repeatedly in order to hunt down every snippet of text, and I love that. Finding all the snippets is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, and hunting for the final piece that you're missing. It's an exciting change-of-pace from the usual linear (-ish) presentation of content.

The storylette is always in ladybones road. If you ran through it once you have to do something with the empress' shadow first.

The other two difficult student options are from: the other ending to the gift, and lost in reflections.

Also there is a 50% option for revs, great game, urchins, and bohemians. Its a very nice place.

On a less spoilery note, this story is well written and mechanically great. Thank you!

Does anyone know how long this story will be available? As I won't have an opportunity to play for perhaps a week or so.
And in case it disappears sooner than that, can I access it by paying the Fate of the first storylet and then let it lie until I am ready to play?

And options in the actual story, not just the school, change their text depending on who you bring? I love this. (You don't miss anything major, mostly character building for students)

And when it disappears it will be on the fate page.

It will be available in London throughout the festive season. Thereafter it will be available to purchase on the Fate page.

Ah, I'm screaming inside! I loved this so much!

Seriously, this is why Emily is - by far - my favourite writer :')

I loved the story itself most of all; the characters were all so fleshed out and developed, with complex and interesting motivations, and you were able to explore all of them in depth and as you wished, for the most part. They really drove the story, and - personally - that's what makes an amazing story: the characters within that story. They were so memorable, too, so enjoyable!

I also will admit I'm madly in love with any story that explores the Masters - I wasn't expecting that in the least, but it was a massively pleasant surprise (there isn't enough about these space-bats)! It added to so much lore, as well, about the Masters, about the next city, the Empress, Jenny, London . . . just . . . all of it. It really helped shaped London as we the player-characters experience it on a daily basis; it wasn't something abstract or about people/creatures we may rarely see or some esoteric lore, but something real and meaningful and adding to the daily lives of the characters.

And the ending choices -!

I was genuinely caught between playing an extra day and ending it there, as there were so many choices that were extremely tempting, and I honestly had no idea which to choose! I went with my gut in the end; my character broke his usual ambitions to do what felt right, and - my God - it was so heartbreaking with the unexpected consequences! I'd genuinely come to care for these people, so every downside was emotionally devastating.

The mechanics were great, too; never repetitive, always adding something new each time, and pacing the story perfectly . . . it took the better part of the day, but in a good way; it felt well very done and with always something to look forward to.

Honestly, can't praise this enough!

100% and 10/10.

I would love to replay this at some point, or at least to check other's journals for the ending . . . gah, I recorded so much, too, as so much was just pure fantastic and worth rereading! I just - . . . you can insert incoherent praise here XD

Thank you very much to the FBG team for this great treat! smile

This is easily one of my favorite stories of all time, and I’m still trundling through Sinning Jenny’s Finishing School! There are so many student combinations! I was originally going to take the Foreign Officer, the Visitor, and the Zailor, but when the Visitor was outed as a Prussian spy by the Foreign Officer, I decided against it. And now I realize the Daughter isn’t just reusing assets from the Governess story… Ms. Short, you’ve truly outdone yourself with this.

Well, I am really disappointed, as it seems that the story doesn’t work as intended on iOS app. Also, my app is now stuck on the loading screen, as it is unable to process School’s opportunity cards (this is the only plausible explanation I have).

If there’s someone who has Teaching wheel working properly on iOS, please let me know.

Ironically, I managed to complete the story before even noticing that something is wrong. What a waste of fate.

Alright, I am very confused by a bit of lore I just picked up!

About mirrors:
http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/MidnightVoyager?fromEchoId=10547685

But in Sunless Sea, when you shatter Varchas, breaking a mirror only makes more mirrors. They say it specifically. Why would chipping a mirror make it any less dangerous?
I'm thinking there's a distinction between a whole reflective surface with a blemish that means a true reflection can't manifest, and a small shard of reflective surface that is, albeit a strange shape, unblemished within its body (as the shards might be).

Pure speculation, though.

That’s the first thing I did (ticket #33179). Olivia helped me with the browser version (thanks!), but the app still doesn’t work.

I've just started this, am idly leafing through the applications, and very reluctant to continue until I get one pressing question answered: Is there any limit on the number of students you can accept?

Edit. Thanks, Kaigen!

You can accept three students per class. Subsequent classes can have a different array of students. Quick Tip:
If you have only one "unsuitable" student, the deck is more forgiving and gives you opportunities to build up Credit with Sinning Jenny while advancing the term.
